Welcome to Obus House, our holiday gîte in France/Limousin/unheard of village called Juillac! Juillac is a hidden treasure, it is situated between two rivers, La Vézère and L’Auvézère, and is surrounded by lakes. To the North is the city of Limoges, to the South is the large town of Brive-La-Gaillarde, 3km East is the Dordogne and we are encircled by six of the prettiest villages in France (as voted by Les Plus Beaux Villages de France association, not me!) Ségur le Château; St Robert; Collonges la Rouge; Turenne; Curemonte and Treignac. By the time you leave, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t heard of this area. Our self catering accommodation consists of a spacious village house with 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin on the first floor and a unique en-suite double bedroom in the 36m2 loft with original beams. The house has a large open plan kitchen/dining room, a sitting room and a sumptuous family bathroom. My husband Mickael Weiss (who is a Head Chef of a leading restaurant in London) and I have both travelled extensively, and not once have we found a gîte with a kitchen to satisfy! So, as you might expect his prerequisite was that we should have a FULLY equipped and workable kitchen with ALL the utensils to make cooking a breeze (which means we’ve remembered the corkscrew, the sieve, the sharp cutting knives, pans of all sizes, even tea towels and oven gloves!). During your stay (depending on the time of year) you will be able to enjoy the bounteous amount of outdoor pursuits on offer, the local swimming pool (just 3 mins walk) or water park (10 mins drive), the lakeside beaches, the local markets and the stunning countryside. Inside, we’ve designed a space that gears itself towards sociable living. We’ve provided toys, games and suitable DVDs for the kids, a kitchen that will allow your creativity to flow and a long dark oak table that you can sit around together all evening, if so desired. When the kids are in bed, you can end the day just “vegging” in front of a classic DVD or reading one of our many books. If you want to steep yourself in “real” France, and enjoy what the local countryside has to offer, our Juillac home will be the perfect holiday break for you.
